Hey sim crew! It’s been a minute… okay, it’s been a few years, but I’m officially back and ready to dive headfirst into the world of flight simulation again.
If you’ve been following my journey for a while, you know I used to post content about my home-built flight simulator on my YouTube channel. But life took me on a different flight path for a while and my sim has been packed away in storage since I moved to Georgia in 2022.
Now? It’s time for a comeback.
My Sim Has Been Packed Away… Until Now
When I moved, my simulator came with me… boxed up in storage containers and sitting quietly in my basement while I focused on running my new business. Honestly, I didn’t think I’d be away from simming this long, but here we are. Even though I haven’t been actively flying in the sim, I’ve never stopped thinking about it!
Over the past couple of years, I’ve been gifted some amazing hardware from generous folks who supported my passion, and I also made a few purchases myself (yes, the itch never fully goes away). The sad part is… all of it is still in boxes and hasn’t been opened.
A Fresh New Sim Room
I’ve officially cleared out a room in my home to build a brand-new, upgraded flight simulator from the ground up. This room will be entirely devoted to the new build, and trust me, I’ve got big plans for it.
First order of business: inventory.
Before I even pick up a screwdriver, I’ll be going through everything I’ve collected… old hardware, new components, random boxes I forgot I had and deciding what will make it into the new sim.
Giving Back to My Followers
Here’s the fun part: anything I don’t end up using in this new build I’ll be giving it away to some of you.
Whether it’s switch panels, a yoke, or other sim gear, I want to pass it on to fellow flight sim enthusiasts who can put it to good use.
So if you’ve ever dreamed of upgrading your setup or starting your first sim, now’s a great time to follow along. Giveaways are coming soon!
What’s Next?
For my next few posts, I’ll be documenting the entire process of building my new home flight simulator right here on the blog.
From:
– Unboxing the gear
– Planning the cockpit layout
– Testing and installing software
– To the final reveal…
You’ll see it all. And I’ll share plenty of tips along the way for anyone looking to build their own flight simulator setup, no matter the size or budget.
I'm Getting Back in the Cockpit
It feels amazing to return to something I love so much. Flight simulation has always been a creative outlet, a teaching tool, and a way for me to stay connected to aviation… even when I couldn’t fly in real life.
Thank you for sticking around. If you’re new here, welcome aboard. Whether you’re a sim rookie or a seasoned captain, I hope you’ll find inspiration and community as we take off on this new chapter together.
Stay tuned. First post in the rebuild series is coming soon!
