Hey everyone… Josh here, and if you’ve followed me for a while, you probably remember my YouTube channel, Home Sim Pilot. A few years ago, I was all-in… building my home flight simulator, flying the virtual skies, and sharing updates with you. The channel took off faster than I ever expected… and then I vanished.

So, what happened?

Well, when I got back into flying after almost five years off, I was pumped and ready to go. I dusted off my third-class medical, which still had about eight months before expiration, and jumped back into flight training. But here’s the part I totally misjudged… I waited until the last month to renew my medical. Big mistake!

I applied for a first-class medical, thinking everything would go smoothly, but it ended up getting deferred. That meant no flying for a while. At the same time, I was wrapping up my final semester of college, so I tried to stay sharp by flying the sim at home while focusing on my degree. I figured I’d just wait it out and hear back from the FAA soon.

Months later? Still nothing. No word. No update. Just radio silence.

So I made a tough call. I stepped away. I packed up my apartment in Los Angeles (including the simulator), left my job, and moved to Georgia to chase a new dream: starting my own business.

The next couple of years were a whirlwind. I was fortunate enough to be able to build my home from the ground up (which took about a year), and my simulator stayed packed away in storage the entire time. Between growing my business and adjusting to this big life change, aviation slowly drifted to the back of my mind.

Honestly, I didn’t even touch the sim once after moving here in 2022.

But now? I’m finally ready to get back to what I love. I’ve had some wins as a business owner, and I’m at a point where I can focus on aviation again. I know the road to getting a medical certificate won’t be easy, but while I go through that process, I’ve decided to start fresh with a brand new simulator build.

And this time, I’m bringing you along for the entire ride.
